In large-scale fossil and gas-cooled nuclear power plants, a sudden rejection of the turbine load causes a pressure decay in the deaerator storage tank, which may lead to cavitation problems in the feed pump. A nonlinear dynamic model was formulated from fundamental principles to investigate the net positive suction head of the feed pump under transient turbine loads. 10 refs.
