The authors present new information concerning the conditions for obtaining and the composition of the indicated mixed crystals, the structure of some luminescence centers, and the transfer of electronic excitation energy between them. They studied fine crystalline samples obtained by free evaporation (T = 340/sup 0/ CK) of water solutions of RbUO/sub 2/(NO/sub 3/ - RbUO/sub 2/(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/, with additions of CsUO/sub 2/(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ (up to 4 mole %). The authors study the changes which should be expected in the spectral characteristics of crystals or rubidium uranyl nitrate when separate Rb/sup +/ cations, separated by several lattice constants from one another, are replaced by Cs/sup +/ (the case of quite low concentration of the CsUO/sub 2/(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ impurity). On the whole, the idea that the probability of energy transfer between neighboring molecules is much higher than the probability of the radiative transition is in agreement with the obtained distribution of luminescence intensity between different centers, which indicates the validity of the correspondence made between their structures.
