Title: Beta decay properties of /sup 148/Er and /sup 148/Ho

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)

The decay properties of /sup 148/Er and /sup 148/Ho, produced in /sup 58/Ni bombardments of /sup 94/Mo, were investigated following on-line mass separation. New ..gamma.. rays were observed for both nuclides. Transitions assigned to /sup 148/Ho decay are predominantly from the decay of the high-spin isomer;based on its decay characteristics, we propose that this state in /sup 148/Ho has a spin assignment of 6/sup -/. The decay pattern of /sup 148/Er shows that the J/sup ..pi../ of the /sup 148/Ho low-spin isomer is 1/sup +/. Coincidences between protons and x and ..gamma.. rays establish /sup 148/Er and /sup 148/Ho to be ..beta..-delayed-proton precursors. In the ..beta.. decay of /sup 148/Dy, three weak ..gamma.. rays were observed in addition to the one intense 620.2-keV transition that has been known to follow the nuclide's decay
