Neutron pair yields from the fission of /sup 235/U by thermal neutrons

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Nucl. Phys. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

The rates of production of single neutrons and neutron pairs from the fission of /sup 236/U were measured at 30/sup 0/ to the fission axis. The parameters N/sub l/ and N/sub h/ of the binomial neutron--number distributions, i.e., the maximum numbers of neutrons emitted by the light and heavy fragments, respectively, were found to be N/sub l/ = 3.2 +- 0.1 and N/sub h/ = 4.4 +- 0.2. The correlation coefficient between the numbers of neutrons emitted by the light and heavy fragments was found to be rho/sub l//sub h/ = -0.32 +- 0.01
