This paper includes many different epidemiological approaches to environmental health studies, and examples and discussion in terms of a limited number of exposures and diseases are provided. Examples are limited primarily to the possible link of environmental radiation exposure and childhood cancer in Britain. The methods described are not unfamiliar, but, by presenting a panorama in a linked context, it is intended to be constructive in developing ideas.
