This work concerns the dehumidifying of air which uses activated carbon fiber as a desiccant. TOYOBO has been manufacturing the activated carbon fiber ''K-Filter'', for solvent adsorbent in exhaust gas, and recently has succeeded in developing a new type of K-Filter which can adsorb humidity even in low relative humidity. In this study, the authors used the K-Filter mat as adsorbent, carried out dehumidifying tests and evaluated the dehumidifying capacity of fibrous activated carbon mat regenerated by direct solar radiation. A mathematical model was developed and computer analysis was carried out. As a result of this study, the following became clear. Air dehumidification using fibrous activated carbon mat and regeneration by direct solar radiation shows higher dehumidifying efficiency (COP and EER) than that of conventional method in which hot air is generated by solar collector for regeneration of adsorbent.
