The Modular High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor (MHTGR) is an advanced nuclear concept being developed in the USA under a cooperative program involving the US government, the nuclear industry, and utilities. This paper addresses the design of the major components within the nuclear steam supply system (NSSS). A significant technology base exists for the MHTGR plant components and this is emphasized in the paper.
