Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5151192
The Selma Pressure Treating site, south of Fresno, CA and adjacent to the southern city limits of Selma, CA is on the National Priorities List. Chromium, arsenic, copper, pentachlorophenol (PCP), PCP degradation products (including mono-, di-, and tri-chlorinated phenols), nitrophenols, polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDD), and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF) were detected in on-site and off-site soils. Low levels of phthalate esters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were also detected in on-site soils. Elevated levels of chromium and low levels of PCDD, PCP, and phenol were found in ground water samples from several off-site monitoring wells. The site is considered of potential health concern because area residents, on-site workers, and workers involved in remedial activities may be exposed to site-related contaminants, both on-site and off-site, at concentrations that may result in adverse health effects.
