Effect of SiO[sub 2], NaCl, Al[sub 2]O[sub 3], and FeCl[sub 3] on phase change behavior of supported and unsupported TiO[sub 2]

Journal Article · · Journal of Solid State Chemistry; (United States)

The anatase-rutile phase change temperatures in TiO[sub 2] powders precipitated from aqueous TiCl[sub 4] and the same deposited on muscovite and phlogopite micas were investigated. Doping with Al[sub 2]O[sub 3], NaCl, and SiO[sub 2] increased the phase change temperature of supported and unsupported TiO[sub 2], but doping with FeCl[sub 3] 6H[sub 2]O decreased the beginning temperature of the phase change on unsupported TiO[sub 2]. The difference in phase change dependence on temperature between undoped TiO[sub 2] supported by mica substrate during the calcination step.
