The drift mobility of negative carriers in mixtures of n-pentane and toluene under applied pressures up to 3 kbar is reported. Near 3 kbar, electrons are attached to toluene yet the observed mobility is considerably higher than that expected for ions at this pressure. The mobility decreases gradually with increasing dilution by n-pentane and increases with increasing temperature. The results are consistent with a hopping mechanism whereby the electron transfers resonantly (isoenergetically) from a toluene anion to a neighboring toluene site. 11 refs., 4 figs., 2 tabs.
