Construction of the gauge-invariant amplitude for pion electroproduction

Ward identities, obtained from the main postulates of the current algebra, lead to two equations for the amplitude of pion electroproduction in nucleons. In analogy with the field theory, the Born terms of these equations are separated out in a unique and model-independent way. It is shown that the Ward identities determine a gauge-invariant amplitude of pion electroproduction with correct analytical properties.
