This patent describes a housing for a level sensor adapted to be positioned adjacent a production string in a well shaft. It comprises an outer housing having a recessed cavity for receiving and holding the housing with the level sensor; at least one substantially U-shaped mounting bracket fixed to an end of the outer housing for engaging the production string; clamping means for fixing the outer housing to the production string; and at least one mounting lug having a proximal end depending from an outer periphery of the outer housing, the lug extending over and converging toward the U-shaped mounting bracket, the mounting lug having a distal end including a mounting tab for engaging the production string.
