Polarization effects in sub-Coulomb breakup of deuterons

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
Tensor analyzing powers, T/sub 2//sub q/, were measured for the elastic deuteron breakup reaction on a /sup 197/Au target at energies of 9, 10.5, and 12 MeV for coplanar events with different combinations of the neutron and proton emission angles. For a /sup 208/Pb target the T/sub 20/ component of the analyzing power was determined at 10.5 and 12 MeV. The results are compared with distorted-wave Born approximation calculations performed in post representation using Dar's and local energy approximations.
