Service experience with 125,000-m/sup 3/ LNG vessels of spherical-tank design

The development and record of start-up of the Indonesia-Japan liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade are described. Characteristics of the eight U.S.-flag 125,000-m/sup 3/ LNG vessels used in the trade, seven of which are dedicated to the project, are provided. The construction program, equipment outfitting and preparation for service are discussed. The procedures for gas trials, which were conducted in England and Massachusetts, are discussed. Voyage characteristics of the vessels in the trade are provided.
