Oligomerization of olefins

This patent describes process for oligomerizing olefins which consists of substantially simultaneously contacting: (a) a feed stream which contains at least one olefin having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms per molecule, (b) a free hydrogen containing gas, and (c) a solid catalyst composition comprising at least one compound containing chemically bound copper, phosphorus and oxygen, under such reaction conditions as to obtain a reaction product comprising at least one hydrocarbon having from 5 to 12 carbon atoms per molecule.
