Distributed memory management system for pasm
PASM is a large-scale multimicroprocessor system being designed as a tool for studying parallel image processing and pattern recognition algorithms. This system can be dynamically reconfigured to operate as one or more SIMD and/or MIMD machines. The architecture of PASM is reviewed, emphasizing the subsystems that manage the data and program files. The interactions of the memory management system processors, secondary storage devices, and parallel computation unit memories are detailed. A file directory system for files distributed over many primary and secondary memory units is proposed. The requirements for loading parallel programs, including the format of object files, are also given. 22 references.
