Characterization of Ontario Hydro's solid radioactive reactor wastes

Currently, Ontario Hydro handles approximately 3,000 m/sup 3/ of low and intermediate level solid radioactive reactor wastes annually. Wastes are stored centrally at the Bruce Nuclear Power Development (BNPD) Radioactive Waste Operations Site. Operational data are analysed and used to characterize the radioactive waste. The data analysed in this paper were collected over the three-year period from 1976 to 1978, inclusive. The analysis presented in this paper represents the first step in the development of an automated waste data retrieval and analysis system for Ontario Hydro.
