Microcomputers simulate natural gas networks

This paper describes a sophisticated computer program designed to solve a variety of problems associated with natural gas networks. Known as ''STAG'', the program discussed has shown itself to be both robust and reliable. On input and output, the program reacts faster to a command than its mainframe counterparts. This is a direct consequence of the dedicated use of the microcomputer and means that engineers can input and change network data faster than they would be able to using a mainframe program. Results show that the program takes up less time and energy in waiting for a computer to react to simple commands.
