Concurrent multi-lingual use in data processing system

A method is described of providing a distributed, interactive data processing system with concurrent multi-lingual use by users having different national language preferences which consists of: establishing a message model data collection by storing message models via a message identifier call from an application control program, the call comprising the step of requesting message composition service using a control statement, the control statement requesting composition of a message model into a variable and passing control to the message composition service in a supervisor program. The step of composing comprises the steps of using the message composition service in the supervisor program, obtaining the correct message model from the message model data collection using the message model identification and the secondary key and storing the resulting text as the value of the variable and returning control to the application control program following the control statement; and communicating the composed messages to users in their national language preference.
