Method of seismic processing involving converted P- or S-wave data

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5124903
This patent describes a method of increasing resolution of amplitude events in seismic records provided by conventional rollalong CMP collection methods involving generating conventional waves by a conventional seismic source at a series of sourcepoint locations and redundantly collecting converted phases of the conventional waves as converted traces at a series of detectors positioned at known detector locations along a line of survey. The improvement described here is related to processing the converted traces in an efficient manner whereby nonsymmetrical travel paths of incident and reflected rays of the generated waves are taken into account prior to race stacking.
