In a local coil for use in NMR imaging which includes a pair of loop-gap resonators that are positioned adjacent to each other along a common axis and the loops thereof are mounted in spaced relationship on a common cylindrical base that encircles the common axis, the improvement is described comprising: a head connector mounted to the base and having a pair of terminals which connect to leads in a transmission line; and a conductive path supported by the base and having two ends which electrically connect to the respective terminals on the head connector. The conductive path extends in a closed path that is substantially coplanar with the loops of the pair of loop-gap resonators and which encircles a portion of the space between the loops of the pair of loop-gap resonators.
