Yttrium aluminum garnet master oscillator and formation of the spectral composition of high-power laser radiation

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
An investigation is made of the characteristics of formation of the spectrum of high-power laser radiation using two types of oscillator: neodymium-glass and an yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG). A description is given of an active Q-switched neodymium-doped YAG oscillator. Its parameters are presented and their importance for the operation of a high-power laser is considered. It is shown that appreciable broadening of the radiation spectrum of the YAG oscillator during amplification may be caused by the stimulated emission of weak broad-spectrum directional radiation in addition to a narrow high-intensity line.
