Terrestrially enhanced neutrino oscillations

The effect of Wolfenstein neutrino-oscillation enhancement on atmospheric neutrinos is considered. The effect of these neutrino oscillations on data from proton-decay experiments is discussed. It is found that for ..delta..M-italic/sup 2/--10/sup -3/--10/sup -4/ eV/sup 2/ and sin/sup 2/(2theta)> or =3 x 10/sup -2/, ..nu../sub e-italic/bold-arrow-left-right..nu../sub ..mu../ oscillations might be detectable.
