The causal relationship which Kraft and Kraft, Chow and Fisher, Sims and others identify for gross energy consumption (GEC) and gross national product (GNP) is challenged. At issue is the significance of data during periods of war and the discrepency between observed variables and the time delay from cause to effect. No solution is advanced for determining causal relationship. 14 references, 3 tables. (DCK)
