Submerged direct contact vaporization process

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5104022
Chicago Bridge and Iron Co.'s submerged vaporization process vaporizes a liquefied gas, such as LNG, LP-gas, or nitrogen, by direct heat exchange with hot combustion products. The liquefied gas is fed to a level above the lower end of the combustion tube in a vessel fitted with a combustion chamber on its top. Combustion products stream down through the tube, are expelled at the tube mouth, and flow upward through the liquefied gas. The resulting admixture of vapors flows upwards in the space surrounding the combustion tube. Solidified combustion products (such as water) are removed periodically.
