This patent describes a method for magnetic resonance imaging of an object comprising the steps of: (a) acquiring a first data set of complex-valued NMR signals sufficient to determine an NMR image of the object; (b) deriving from the first data set a second data set of artificial NMR signals based on complex conjugate symmetry relationships between the NMR signal components contained in the first data set; (c) adding together corresponding signals of the first and second data sets to produce an averaged data set; and (d) producing an NMR image using the averaged data set.
