Exposure reduction using yttrium filters in a cardiac catheterization unit

This study measures the radiation exposure reduction during cardiac catheterization when using yttrium filtration. Measurements of entrance exposure to a phantom were taken during fluoroscopy and cineangiocardiography. Exposure reductions of as much as 54% were found with no apparent loss of image quality in routine procedures and little increase in tube loading.
