This patent describes a miller for lowering into a cased well for milling a casing from the well. It comprises: an elongate outer tubular body having an inner axial passage therealong and adapted to be connected at the upper end thereof to a pipe string positioned in the casing for lowering to a selected depth and to be rotated by the pipe string; a movable inner mandrel within the outer body, the inner mandrel movable between and initial position in the outer body and an operative position relative to the initial position therein; a set of cutters movably rotatably mounted on and supported by the outer body and having outwardly extending cutting edges for contact against any surrounding casing; shoulder means movable with the inner mandrel for operatively moving the cutters radially outwardly into a cutting position; and guide slot means at the shoulder means for engaging an restricting the cutters during milling wherein the cutters have an edge engaged by the guide slot to thereby enable restriction of the cutters after rotation.
