Controlling slagging and fouling when burning lignite fuel in pulverized fuel generators. [Saskatchewan]

Journal Article · · Am. Soc. Mech. Eng., (Pap.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5089031
Twenty years of pulverised fuel experience is discussed, along with the slagging history and methods of overcoming this. Particularly since 1975 this has been made possible by regular additions of calcium to the coal. Other benefits which have been realized, once slagging and fouling were brought under control, have been greater availability, easier boiler cleaning, easier ash removal and much reduced maintenance of the ash removal equipment. 4 refs.
