Design of 40-mw grazing and moored OTEC pilot/demonstration plants
Designs are presented and discussed for a plantship that cruises the tropical oceans, where the electrical energy generated by ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) is used to produce ammonia, replacing natural gas used in ammonia manufacture; and for a moored OTEC plant from which the electrical power is transmitted by undersea cable to an offshore island. 14 refs.
