Degradation of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans by the white rot fungus Phanerochaete sordida YK-624

Journal Article · · Applied and Environmental Microbiology
OSTI ID:508583

Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF) accumulate in body fat of animals and present a public concern. Degradation is very slow in the environment. This study attempts to develop a biodegradation method for PCDDs and PCDFs. Degradation by Phanerochaete sordida YK-624 was performed on a mixture of 10 related compounds. 44 refs., 3 figs., 3 tabs.
