Three dimensional Monte Carlo simulation of the electron avalanche around an anode wire of a proportional counter

A three dimensional Monte Carlo simulation code has been written, which calculates physical characteristics of the electron avalanche around an anode wire of a proportional counter. The microscopic treatment of the avalanche mechanism has been realized first using this code. Typical results of the simulation show that the shapes of the electron avalanche in two dimensional projection are a heart- and a sector- form around and along the anode wire, respectively.
