Indonesia`s Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) wants to increase the capacity of its planned ethylene plant at Tuban, East Java. The project, which was approved in June last year, is expected to be designed for 700,000 m.t./year of ethylene, instead of the originally planned 550,000 m.t./year. The plant will use Bontang condensate as feedstock and will be based on Stone & Webster`s technology. UOP-process technology will be used in an associated aromatics complex that will have annual capacities for 450,000 m.t. of paraxylene, 150,000 m.t. of benzene, 150,000 m.t. of toluene, and 150,000 m.t. of orthoxylene. TPPI also plans to produce 250,000 m.t./year of linear low-/high-density polyethylene, 170,000 m.t./year of low-density polyethylene, and 300,000 m.t./year of styrene monomer. BP Chemicals is negotiating to take a stake in the Tuban cracker and in an ethylene plant planned by the Salim Group in West Java.
