The reactions {sup 40}{plus minus}Ca+{sup 14}N at {ital E}{sub N}=40 MeV and {sup 27}Al+{sup 27}Al at {ital E}{sub Al}=90 MeV are used to populate high-spin levels in a number of {ital f}{sub 7/2} nuclei, from {sup 45}Sc to {sup 52}Fe. In {sup 51}Cr, the {ital f}{sub 7/2} band-terminating state at {ital J} {sup {pi}}=23/2{sup {minus}} is identified at 5.711 MeV, and further transitions, from the {ital pf} band, are found. Similar evidence for interband transitions in {sup 51}Mn is sought without success. In {sup 48}V, new transitions are found within the positive-parity band and between the negative- and positive-parity bands.
