Focusing of high-energy plasma streams in the axisymmetric magnetic field of a short coil

The motion of high-energy plasma streams in the axisymmetric magnetic field of a short coil is studied. The experiments show that if the external magnetic field is completely shielded from the plasma volume the stream is focused at the axis of the system in a volume essentially free of external fields. The axial position of this focal region can be changed by changing the magnetic field of the coil.
