Based on the phaseout schedule announced in Mar. 1978 by EPA, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commmission, aerosol spray products containing chlorofluorocarbon propellants cannot be made after 12/15/78; and all interstate shipment of existing products must cease by 4/15/79. Certain minor uses of the propellants, e.g., for pharmaceuticals and insecticides, may continue. EPA is still considering the need for restrictions on the use of chlorofluorocarbons as refrigerants and for other industrial uses.
