Though drill bit sales have declined somewhat because of the drilling slow-down the past couple of years, the cost of a basic drill bit has remained steady. Tungsten carbide insert bits continue to be the most popular bit for most drilling operations. But polycrystalline diamond (PCD) bits are gaining acceptance in areas with soft-to-medium formations.
