The Joint Utility Task Group (JUTG) under the sponsorship of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) was formed in late 1989. This paper reports that the purpose of the JUTG is to pool industry resources to develop the technical and acceptance criteria needed to dedicate commercial grade items (CGI's) that are commonly used by utilities in safety-related nuclear applications. The product of the JUTG is available on a computer accessible network to allow efficient information retrieval and periodic updates of the database content.
