Flue gas conditioning by SO{sub 3} injection was tested with an existing electrostatic precipitator installed at a 500 MW coal-fired power plant. In view of the test results for efficiency, power consumption, temperature and pressure drop, and so forth, the gas conditioning seems to be one of the appropriate means for enhancing the efficiency of dust collection in high resistivity coal firing. Additional plant operation time is required to fully evaluate the capability of the flue gas conditioning system.
