Certain features of flute perturbations in an open system with a radial electric field

Flute perturbations in an open confinement system are analyzed for the case in which there is a radial electric field and for values ..beta..very-much-less-than1. Under certain conditions these flute perturbations can be suppressed. These conditions are found. Effects due to the finite ion Larmor radius, the gradients of the radial electric field E(r), and the longitudinal currents in the plasma, are taken into account.
