Research and development at the Transportation Technology Center
A research and development program has been implemented at the Transportation Technology Center to support the design and certification of nuclear material transportation systems. The overall program includes activities in standards and subsystems development, systems development, information materials and systems, institutional issue analyses, and safety analyses. The status of some of the activities in the standards and subsystems development and systems development is reviewed in this paper. Specifically, the programs on torch and engulfing pool fires, computer code evaluation, target hardness and materials technology are described briefly. The future direction of these five programs is outlined. 8 references, 1 figure.
