Acceleration of high-current electron beams by the field of a large-amplitude plasma wave

It is demonstrated that electron beams can be accelerated by the field of a large amplitude plasma wave. The accelertation can be increased by either detuning the plasma wave relative to the electron beam or by increasing the beam current. (AIP)
