Development of advanced-technology metallic recuperators for industrial flue gas heat recovery

The use of recuperators in industrial furnace flues is described as lacking of high-performance stainless steel units suitable for long-term, high-temperature service, and by the availability of moderate to low-cost industrial heating fuel. The authors have developed the capability to braze large plate-fin stainless steel heat exchangers that provide a high thermal effectiveness.
