Superconducting and normal state properties of YBa[sub 2](Cu[sub 1[minus]x]Cr[sub x])[sub 3]O[sub 7[minus][delta]] (x = 0. 01)

The effect of Cr substitution in the YBa[sub 2](Cu[sub 1[minus]x]Cr[sub x])[sub 3]O[sub 7[minus][delta]] (x = 0.01) system has been investigated. The resistance-temperature curves showed metallic behavior for samples with x [le] 0.02 and semiconductor-like behavior for x [ge] 0.03. The resistance-temperature curves also showed very little change in the onset temperature (T[sub c] onset [approximately] 93 K) for all samples but a pronounced broadening of the superconducting-transition-width with increasing Cr content. The superconducting and normal state properties are discussed using the electrical resistivity, X-ray diffraction, Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDAX), and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) observations. 16 refs., 5 figs., 1 tab.
