Propagation of very slow lower hybrid waves in the Octopole Tokamak

A multi-element slow wave structure has been used to couple radio-frequency (rf) power to very slow lower hybrid waves in the Octopole-Tokamak plasma. Probing of the distribution of wave power in the plasma revealed strong amplitude modulation and scattering of the wave; however, direct evidence for the propagation of slow waves was obtained by measuring the toroidal wave speed.
