Control strategies for automated venetian blinds used in daylighting multistory buildings

Conference · · Proc. Annu. Meet. - Am. Sect. Int. Sol. Energy Soc.; (United States)

Control strategies for automated venetian blinds used for daylighting multistory buildings are discussed. It is suggested that daylighting in multistory buildings will soon become a standard practice due to the development of sophisticated electronic and mechanical solar tracking systems that automate venetian blind control. However, the immediate dilemma faced by the architect and engineer involves the development of performance specifications for these new devices which encompass critical daylighting design criteria. The important issues required to identify control characteristics for automated venetian blinds are addressed in this paper.
