The behavior of the superconducting temperature T/sub c/ and the lattice parameter a/sub 0/ of polycrystalline Nb/sub 3/Si and NB/sub 7/Si thin films as a function of 300-kV ..cap alpha..-particle fluence was investigated. It was found that the T/sub c/ depression of A15 Nb/sub 3/Si is of the same size and nature as for other A15 materials. In contrast, the initial T/sub c/ degradation of NB/sub 7/Si is a factor of three larger. The observed minimum in the T/sub c/ vs fluence dependence of NB/sub 3/Si is discussed and a simple qualitative model is presented.
