The photoelectrochemical behavior of tungsten trioxide-titanium dioxide heterostructures

The photoelectrochemical behavior of WO/sub 3/-TiO/sub 2/ heterostructures was investigated; these were films of TiO/sub 2/ deposited in a thickness of 100 nm onto the surface of WO/sub 3/ films obtained by thermal oxidation of tungsten. It was found that sensitized processes occur more efficiently on the surfaces of the WO/sub 3/-TiO/sub 2/ heterostructures than they do individually at WO/sub 3/ and TiO/sub 2/ electrodes, and the equivalent circuit of the heterostructures can be described as that of the photogenerators connected in series.
