United States-Japan collaborative testing in the High Flux Isotope Reactor and the Oak Ridge Research Reactor: Third annual progress report for the period ending September 30, 1986

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/5041245· OSTI ID:5041245
The third year of the program of US/Japan collaborative testing in the HFIR and ORR was completed on schedule and within costs. Irradiation of all eight phase-I HFIR target capsules was completed. Postirradiation examination was completed on five of the eight capsules. The instrumented Target Temperature Capsule was designed, built, and installed in HFIR. Preliminary results showed that the measured temperatures were within 15% of those predicted. The spectrally tailored capsules, MFE-6J and -7J, operated in ORR as planned throughout the year. Conceptual designs and preliminary test matrices were developed for the Phase II irradiation program. 19 refs., 11 figs., 12 tabs.
