Processes occurring in CH/sub 4/ + CCl/sub 4/ + Ar mixtures were studied in a flow-type reactor at 450-525/sup 0/C and atmospheric pressure over a reaction time Tav = 4.94 sec for the initial compositions in the content variation ranges: CCl/sub 4/ 8.4-29.5, CH/sub 4/ 22.1-57.2, and Ar 18.0-51.4%. The contents of chlorinated organic components and argon in the final mixture of the reaction products were determined chromatographically, and those of chlorine and hydrogen chloride, by absorption with a potassium iodide solution followed by titration (in one sample) with hyposulfite and alkali. In addition to unreacted initial components, the reaction products contained CH/sub 3/Cl, CH/sub 2/Cl/sub 2/, CHCl/sub 3/, C/sub 2/H/sub 2/CL/sub 2/, C/sub 2/Cl/sub 4/, C/sub 2/CL/sub 6/, HCl, and Cl/sub 2/. 2 tables.
